E-Waste Recycling Day at Silver Bay YMCA
Silver Bay YMCA will be hosting an E-Waste Recycling Day Saturday, June 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 8169 Lake Shore Drive, Silver Bay, N.Y., 12874.
Silver Bay YMCA has partnered with EWaste+, a leading electronics recycler in the region, to provide this free community E-Waste Recycling Day.
“E-cycling protects our health and environment - Electronics contain a host of hazardous substances. Even small amounts of these toxins can be dangerous if released into the air, water and soil. E-cycling protects our health and environment by keeping these substances out of our landfills and incinerators,” Silver Bay YMCA’s Information Technology Manager Alex Tretiak said on the importance of the E-Waste Recycling Day.
Additionally, E-cycling conserves natural resources by taking valuable materials including copper, gold, and aluminum from old electronics and recycling them and using them in new products. E-Cycling also reduces greenhouse gas emissions. By using recycled materials, less energy is consumed than when virgin material is used to make new products.
As part of Silver Bay YMCA’s mission to strengthen communities, foster relationships, and nurture spirit, mind and body for all, Silver Bay is pleased to be able to offer events such as E-Waste Recyling Day to the community.
Silver Bay YMCA CEO Peter Doliber added, “Silver Bay is proud to be a part of a community that is incredibly environmentally focused. We are pleased to be able to participate by gathering unusable electronics that will be kept from a landfill.”
Silver Bay YMCA has been offering this free community E-Waste Recycling Day for over 10 years. For more information about this year’s E-Waste Recycling Day or to find a list of eligible electronics to recycle visit silverbay.org/special-events/.
