Mark your calendars! This year’s Lake Protector Summit on June 14th at Camp Chingachgook is designed for residents, visitors, and businesses who love, rely on, and seek to protect Lake George.
During this free event, you’ll learn about the significant threats to Lake George, what the LGA and other local organizations are doing to help, and actions you can take to help keep the lake clean and clear.
Agenda includes:
What is the hemlock woolly adelgid and how is it threatening our forests? (Presented by Tammara Van Ryn of the Adirondack Park Invasive Plant Program)
What is The Jefferson Project? How is Lake George a “smart lake”? Will technology and big data help preserve water quality? (Presented by The Jefferson Project staff and scientists)
What are harmful algal blooms (HABs) and why does Lake George have them? (Presented by Brian Mattes of The Jefferson Project)
What is stormwater pollution and how does it affect the lake? What mitigation projects are being done on both private and public land? (Presented by Jim Lieberum of Warren County Soil and Water Conservation District)
How does your septic system work? (Presented by Suozzo, Dotty and Associates)
Why are increasing chloride levels bad for the lake? How can you reduce your winter salt application? (Presented by Phill Sexton of WIT Advisers, LLC)
