She will present a brief history of the Burleigh family in Ticonderoga with emphasis on brothers Henry Gordon and Brackett Burleigh\, 19th-century entrepreneurs whose support and success contributed to the strength and stability of the Champlain Basin.\n\n\n\nThe public is welcome. Participants order from the menu and pay for their own meal. Walk-ins are welcome if we have room.\n\n\n\nHenry Gordon Burleigh and Brackett Weeks Burleigh played powerful roles in the lower Champlain Basin in both New York and Vermont in the late 1800s. They were involved in rail and water transportation\, lumber and shipbuilding\, manufacturing\, mining\, and finance and real estate and also in philanthropy and state and national politics.\n\n\n\nA retired librarian and superb historian\, Virginia LaPointe is the treasurer of the Adirondack Torch Club. She has received the Silver Torch Award from Torch Clubs\, International.
